TABLE 1. Participating agencies and the respective crops, nematode species, and objectives on which each will do research.

The Technical Committee will meet annually to discuss progress and make plans for future work. This meeting will provide an open forum to discuss problems encountered and for exchange of ideas on direction, cooperation, and detailed procedures to be used in achieving the next year’s goals. This exchange of information will aid the nematology programs in individual states and serve to remind cooperating scientists of the commitment each has made to the achievement of the overall objectives. Occasionally problems are encountered and new directions must be taken in order to more efficiently and logically meet the objectives of the Project. The other nematology regional committees will be notified of committee activities and be invited to send representatives to the meetings.

The Committee chair and secretary will be designated on a rotating basis. The voting member of the host state for each annual meeting will be the chair. The voting member who hosted the previous meeting will be the secretary. The chair will have the authority to appoint special subcommittees for special tasks. In addition, a coordinator to facilitate the outlined collaborative work per objective as well as compiling the research before each annual meeting will be appointed. The Executive Committee will plan the annual meeting. The Chair has the responsibility for preparing and transmitting the annual report and Minutes of the annual meeting (as outlined in the Manual for Cooperative Regional Research). One member from each state will be designated a voting member of the Committee. An Administrative Advisor and a CSREES representative will be non-voting members of the Committee. Collaborating scientists, especially plant breeders, will be invited to fully participate in annual meetings. In addition, objective and procedure coordinators will initiate and encourage frequent contact with members via e-mail throughout the year to discuss research progress toward specific objectives and procedures and to provide a forum for exchange of ideas within the project.
