Grant and Manuscript writing for PhD candidates.  EPP 604 Adv. Topics Plant Pathology (2)

Offered spring 2007.  Maximum 8 students.  Must be 2nd year or further in doctoral work.

Students will work through one grant (USDA or NSF) and one manuscript during the course of the semester.  Guest lectures will provided targeted instruction on the keys to success.  Come prepared to write, write, and then write some more.

550 Molecular Epidemiology (3) This course will provide a dynamic overview of the growing suite of tools available to explore variation (genetic, genomic, and proteomic) within and among natural populations as well as within the individual genome as it transitions through various life stages. Some of the topics covered will include:

-Whole genome sequencing and annotation (strategies, rationale, accuracy and impact)

-Genetic fingerprinting and population biology

-Microarray (gene chips, SNP chips, protein chips)

-Global proteomics (e.g. Shotgun proteomics)

-Reverse Genetics
