Entomology and Plant Pathology

Admission information

International Students

The Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology considers international applicants whose interests and previous training are consistent with the mission and goals of the departmental faculty. Applicants with degrees in fields such as genetics, biochemistry, physiology, molecular biology and biotechnology will be expected to show how those skills will be applied to meet the goals of the department and faculty. Prospective students should contact individual faculty concerning funding and research programs.

In order for your application to be considered by the department, you must apply to and be accepted by The University of Tennessee Graduate School (Office of Graduate Admissions). Prospective graduate students may electronically apply for admission to the Graduate School online (applicants are required to print out a signature form and mail it in with the application fee to have the application processed and evaluated).

The application (fees, transcripts, TOEFL and GRE scores and proof of financial support) goes to the Office of Graduate Admissions. None of the requirements or fees will be waived by The University of Tennessee. In addition to the requirements for admission by the Graduate Admissions Office, the department requests that each prospective student write a letter stating their career goals and outlining their proposed research, a resume, and have three letters of recommendation sent. Please be advised that the departmental TOEFL score requirement is 550.
